The basic idea is that a service station must also be a signal. For this we have chosen red as the main color; red is a signal, like a manifesto. The shape also represents a signal: a lightning bolt. A temporary image that highlights the user’s transitory condition:
PASSES, STOPS AND STARTS.
According to architecture, a building must not be just a container but should represent a purpose. It is important to have a strong initial idea which then evolves and improves over time. Architecture must dialogue and bring the culture of its time into a building. In the context of Stalvedro San Gottardo Sud we wanted to bring pieces of Mediterranean scrub that is leaving, the mountains that are going to meet and a touch of contemporaneity that is needed to consolidate in the traveler’s memory the presence of such a beautiful service station, where it is worth stopping.
